FAUX is a film company created by Sérgio Tréfaut in 2002 to produce his personal projects: creative documentaries and feature films. All the films in the Faux catalogue have won awards at International film festivals and been broadcast on TV channels around the world: ARTE (France-Germany), WDR (Germany), RTBF (Belgium), YLE (Finland), SVT (Sweden), TV3 Cataluña, Canal Sur, Canal História (Spain), ERT (Greece), RTP, TV Cine (Portugal), Canal Brasil, GNT (Brazil), RTV (South Corea). Faux also distributes these films throughout a wide network of cinemas in Portugal.

SÉRGIO TRÉFAUT was born in Brazil in 1965. After completing a Master’s degree in Philosophy at the Sorbonne (Paris), he started work in Lisbon as a journalist. His career evolved from there to his eventually becoming a producer and a prize-winning director of documentaries and feature films screened in more than 50 countries. Sérgio Tréfaut has been on the board of the EDN (European Documentary Network), and co-founded Doclisboa International Film Festival, which he directed between 2004 and 2010.
