March 17th, 2023 is the premiere date of “Paraíso” on the Sesc channel (Brazil). When the film was shown at the 26th It’s All True – International Documentary Film Festival, it received positive reviews, like Luiz Zanin Oricchio’s critic for the newspaper Estadão, who highlighted that “in this brutal time [the new coronavirus pandemic], films like Paraíso are a balm of delicacy”.

15-19 November 2022 Sérgio Tréfaut has a complete retrospective of his work at the 16th edition of LEFFEST. 14 films were shown – from “Alcibiades” (1992) to “The Bride” (2022) – divided into 10 sessions. Due the retrospective, a catalog was published with an informal talk between Sérgio Tréfaut, Maria Mendes, Margarida Medeiros and Miguel Vale de Almeida, which covers and illuminates 30 years of body of work.

04-12 November 2022 The 19th Seville European Film Festival gave the film “The Bride” the New Waves Special Award «For a new and close look at a reality as contemporary as the brides of ISIS. For the courage to portray a woman in an extreme situation without victimizing her.».

November 9th, 2022 Release in French theaters of the documentary “Paraíso”. The film was shown at the Espace Saint Michel (Paris) for 9 weeks and circulated throughout the movie theaters of the province for several months. It received critical acclaim, including the magazine Cahiers du Cinéma: “Sérgio Tréfaut’s stature is measured by the majesty of his shots”. Before reaching theaters, “Memories That Make People Sing” was awarded the Grand Prix Documentaire Musical at FIPADOC, in Biarritz (January 2022).

April 7th and 9th, 2023 After its world premiere at the Orizzonti Competition at the 79th Venice Film Festival (2023), “The Bride” was shown in several film festivals and now arrives in Montevideo with a screening at the 41st Uruguay International Film Festival.

April 25th, 2023 Another Country” has a special screening at Brazilian  Cinematheque in celebration of the anniversary of the Carnation Revolution.
